Atlanta Web Designer - trying to be #1 with www.WebXinc.com

Searching on the keyword Atlanta Web Designer I don't see www.WebXinc.com nor do I see www.WebXperts.com. I have found that WebXperts is not #1 or even on the main page. If I combine the web designer into one word we do appear on the main page. I want to study this and see if my many websites are properly aligned for high placement on Google.

You see I am just focus ing on one search engine. I am doing this because in my experience I feel that when you are trying to achieve top ranking that trying to do so on multiple search engines is counter productive. I have battled both Yahoo and Google on this and have come to the realization that its a waste of effort. You should also apply the 80/20 rule here, trying to reach every search engine is not the most productive course of action and most of us are operating under limited time.

Well with the search term Atlanta Web Designer with all spaces - we should up 32 on the fourth page. The domain that the search engines are grabbing onto is

altantawebdesign.webxinc.com

I think its important to examine the page that this search engine is picking up. I know its one of our top level domain name game domains ( a sophisticate strategy that involves complicated scripts that are manipulating top level domain names), but I want one of the pure domain name plays I have to show up! We have spent plenty of cash on domain names, new servers, and programming mini sites that have not been recognized by search engines.

I will break out how this page looks and continue more discussion of this domain name on a new post

The title tag says "Atlanta Web Design, Atlanta Web Designers | WebXperts (c)1997-2007 | Atlanta Web Design & Internet Development Company"

The first line says "

Checking Your Own Site

I think that not enough web owners do the due diligence to ensure that there websites are placed high. Do you know that you can increase your search engine relevance just by checking to see how your listed? Not a lot of people know that fact and it works with mostly all of the top search engines.

Making sure that your site is submitted properly is also essentially. If you Google "add url" you should pull up a good list of websites. The top two are the ones you should be concerned with. They should be Google owned links. Make sure that you include the Http:// before you website address or it will be kicked out of the system.

Use the same technique with Yahoo and MSN. If you have those three you should be covered because most of the search engines use there information to display results anyways. I think think the statistic is hat 90% of all website searches originate from those three. I know ASK.com is becoming big but it seems as if they us humans to research the websites instead of web robots.

I know that we check www.WebXperts.com and www.WEBXINC.com at least twice a day. Usually our sub domains get pinged (what we call it when we check our sites - but it also is what it's called when a computer checks another computer once a month.

Multiple sites versus Parking Multiple Domains

We have been doing extensive studies on parking multiple websites on the same server versus creating absolutely different websites with similar content. The results are incredible and as I expected. The multiple websites on multiple servers has worked the best for us.

It's easy for us to recommend this strategy because we have lots of web experts here and they love to build websites, especially for the boss...

web design expert (http://webdesignexpert.org)

Well Well Well what a pleasant surprise after such a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. I see that we have moved up for the key word:Web Design Expert

Notice the link we are #4 and rising. This is great because it is very very difficult to get ranked for a non geographical based keyword.

WebXperts has been doing web design for clients large and small for over 10 years. We have worked on simple webpages to complex social network sites. We have helped with website maintenance and complex consultation pertaining to media based social network sites.

Very few web development companies have worked on creating social networking websites or even know what is involved in such a complicated endeavor.

Maybe that is the next keyword we will target - SOCIAL NETWORKING WEBSITES

c# programmer atlanta

Okay All the links that are purple are ours.

Ever since we worked with a large Fortune 500 company, on a mission critical development project, we realized that the number of c# programmers out there were few and far between. I know I personally interviewed at least 10 people at hourly rates that are more than most people make in a day. Most of them were scared of the project WebXperts was tasked with. Well the good news is we didn't have to hire any c# guru and were able to complete the c# project on time and on budget. Note to self - never trust someones resume. Ironically enough the c# programmers we did interview had some awesome resumes yet couldn't answer basic questions about Visual Studio 8...

I feel like no one knows WebXperts has C# programmers that are American's. Sorry but this offshore programming doesnt work work. At 2 cents an hour, you get what you pay for.

We have corporate application development experience, and that have modified pre-existing c# and vb.net applications. Comapanies should be knocking down the doors righ? Well if no one knows that you have an awsome service offering it might as well be your best kept secret.

Okay well enough of that. We can fix everything through technology right?

We are number three for "c# programmer Atlanta"

Hopefully one day with enough prayer to the search engine spiders we will become #1 for c# programmer without the geographical location.

Good Post On Getting Ranked High On Yahoo

Even though I don't agree with the relevance of placing high on Yahoo and since this is an article that was written a while ago by some SEO guru I thought I would include it.

No Its not the Turkey hangover or the bookie knocking at my door because my NFL bets went south. It is an article I read and thought would help my readers who do want to place high on Google. The MANY emails from the last post. made me think some folks feel isolated :)

Well if Google doesn't take over the world like I anticipate than website owners will really want to thank this SEO guru:

OK lets get started. How does Yahoo return results? Well search results on Yahoo are determined by words that appear within these four areas: 1. Category | 2. Title | 3.Description | 4.URL.

These sites are then sorted by relevance using an automated algorithm.
I will now go through these four different factors and how to optimize you submittal for each one
First up category selection, many people don't realize this but when someone searches for a term(s) on Yahoo its algorithm searches through the category name also, for example visit www.yahoo.com and you will see the results for a search done on 'Internet marketing articles'. You will see under each listing that these words are highlighted if they are in the name of the category, the top listing has the most occurrences of these words between its title, description, URL and words in the category its in.

You should remember this when submitting to your category, when trying to establish what category you are going to submit to you should do a search for one or two of your keywords and see what categories come up. But which of these categories do you submit to?

When your add your website to Yahoo, submit to a very specific category.
Since most referrals to sites from Yahoo come from the search results and not from people visiting certain categories, it is wise and best (in most occasions) to submit to a very specific category with lots of keywords in the category name. To see this strategy in practice revisit the results page for 'Internet marketing articles' on Yahoo notice that the top ranked site is in a category with lots of keywords, these are: Internet, Business, Advertising and Web, these combined with various keywords in the title, description and URL combine to give this site a pretty good chance at ranking well on a few good keywords and phrases. Therefore category names are just like having more titles and descriptions. Note - if you are a regional operation try to pick a category with the name of your state or province in it. This will help you get targeted visitors from Yahoo.
I said in most occasions a little higher up the page, well here's why it's not the best policy in all occasions. Imagine if your business name or official website name began with an A or any other alphabetically high character and someone goes into a general high - level category and there you are listed in the top few, you could receive lots of traffic from your category listing like this.

Basically what I'm saying here is that if the title you are submitting (i.e.. Your official business or website name) is alphabetically very high. Then you'd want to compromise between a lower level very specific keyword rich category and an upper level more general category in the hope that you'd receive more visitors because you would be listed high on the page due to your alphabetically high title.

Personally I'd try to get into the most general category possible on all occasions and rely on the keywords in my title, URL, and description to get a good ranking in search results.

As for the title Yahoo insists that you use your official business or website name when applying to them, if you submit some keyword rich title they wont even look twice at your application. You should take this into account when choosing a domain name/official website name.

I did - AKA Marketing - 'A' is useful in getting listed high in general categories as discussed earlier, because AKA is an abbreviation I can 'get away' with having AKA all caps which again helps with the category strategy. Also it includes a good keyword - Marketing and they can't accuse me of applying to them with a keyword rich title, can they?

Check your website titles and make them short before your submit your website to Yahoo.
Yahoo favors short titles, this stems from the fact that the shorter the title is the less likely they will be to edit it. Which means less work for them. However if you follow the above guidelines and indeed Yahoo's own onsite guidelines chances are you wont get edited down.
The description part I think is the tricky part. The Web site description posted with your URL is a big factor in how your site will rank once it's listed in the directory.

You have to submit a description which has your main keywords in it, and make it sound very appealing to potential visitors at the same time, however you can't have anything that resembles hype and bragging, for example - number 1 site on the net for... The best on the web for . . . . .

Again Yahoo will either edit it to something that doesn't benefit you at all or just move on to the next application (most likely). If they do edit it you can bet your keywords won't appear in the final listing, for these reasons it is important to get it right first time.

The description should be concise and based on facts, most importantly it should include your most important keywords whenever possible. Do not exaggerate what is located on your site. Remember a real person reviews your site and in the end; your site will not get listed, simple as that.

The length of the description should be about 10 - 15 words. Note however on the Yahoo submittal form, they say 25 is the maximum, never go near this number, they are sure to edit it, a mess with your keywords. Refer to Yahoo's own words "Please be brief".

What other things do your need to know about Yahoo?
Sometimes people email me asking this question ''does my title and description that I submit to Yahoo have to be the same as the Meta description tag and title tag on my site''. Simple answer, NO!
We have already discussed most of the issues regarding domain name choice and Yahoo above, however there are others, most notable the whole 63 character thing, this allows for very long keyword rich domain names, if you decide to pursue this strategy, don't go mad and use up nearly all 63 characters because Yahoo reviewers wont like it, however do use long domain names to your advantage. Get ones with your main key phrase in it, and have these words separated by hyphens (-) because Yahoo's algorithm like hyphens it may give you a rankings boost. Also remember to try for alphabetically high domains, which are plausible and make sense. If you can that is.

Some experts question the merit of keyword rich domains as a way of gaining an advantage over other sites in Yahoo, however I have seen this strategy in action and it does give advantage, most of the time it's only a slight advantage but we're talking about Yahoo here, a small advantage can mean a lot more visitors. To see why I believe in keyword rich domains, go to Yahoo and enter in ''linking strategies''. WHAT SITE COMES UP! . That was a very good example wasn't it :-)

Other tips for Yahoo is to have an about us page on your main page - Yahoo likes to know who it's dealing with. On this page describe what you do honestly and also post the physical address of your business/building your website is run from.

Important information about submitting your url to Yahoo.
Don't under any circumstances Spam Yahoo, it they notice your submitting your site more than every 2 or 3 months they will just forget about you and more on.
Well that's it - I hope you enjoyed reading this Yahoo submitting tips articles as much as I enjoyed reading it. Good luck in your quest for Yahoo success.

Yahoo vs. Google - You Can't Win All The Time

The problem that we are encountering now is that our websites are placing great on the search engine Google, but are not placing high on Yahoo. I mean when you think about it how many people use Yahoo? Even though I own stock in the company (YHOO) and use it as my homepage, I have learned that most people use Google. With their recent moves you know that if you don't make friends with the Google spiders, your business future will be bleak.

From our experience we have seen that modifications can be made to make sure you place high on Ask.com (whose search engine formulas are very similars to Googles) or worst modify your website to place high on Yahoo (which really kills your keyword association for Ask.com or Google.com) but all of these tweeks seem to impact your Google placement. So you have to ask yourself is it worth it???

We have tried also to get our websites to place high on all three seem difficult if not impossible. Sure you could use scripting tricks or the htaccess tricks but we are sure you will be penalized for this - if not now then with future advancements in the search engine spider's formulas.

Contact our Web Experts if you are interesting in learning more. The number is every on this site so I am not going to list it again. Search Engine optimization experience is invaluable. Only time can teach you everything you need to know.

Free Time?

In the past year and a half I have taken on a good bit of volunteer activities. While it is fulfilling to help a growing community, it can alco become time consuming. My volunteer efforts are now dwindling and we here at WebXperts have all committed ourselves to learning new web technologies this new year. My skills are more in the programming and sales arena, Andrea's is in web programming and database design, Brian's skills lie in design and animation, Daniel's in macromedia flash programming, and Tanner's skill set lies in web database architecture.

This web team has worked together for over 5+ years and as you probably have already read the company has been around now for 10 years (in the Internet business 1 year = 7 years). I definitely credit this as one of our big successes. It helps the client and the bottom line. The client benefits because they have access to a team that has worked together on many web projects and have successful outcomes. The bottom line benefits because it takes less time to get Internet projects completed. Everyone wins!

Well I am singing off for the weekend. Have a webderful weekend :)

Launch Time (Houston We Have No Problems)

Well, we are are about to launch two websites; one of them is for Dallas Austin and the other is for Ted Turner. We are about one month away from both! It's interesting the range of clients that we service. Thier needs are always the same, and we want the best and it we want it done on time. The tools and the expected results always are unique. I love my clients and the ever changing job. I think the rest of the team feels as strong as a bond to all of our clients also.

It's not hard to give a customer good service and to work early in the development phase to understand the clients; vision. It is hard to find and secure the talent to do the job thoguh. At WebXperts we are lucky to have people that have worked for the company 5+ years. It helps with managing clients (many of which stay 3 years on average) and it speeds up development time (because you're not recreating the wheel every time).

This is a post from the head web expert.

More to come...

The History

WebXperts is a company that was created about 10 years ago. The original creator wanted to provide web design to businesses in a more efficient manner. Having worked for some of the largest web development firms in the southeast, the vision of providing complete solutions in the most efficient manner was refined.

WebXperts was hatched in the owners residence on 14th Street. The view of the park with the backdrop of some of Atlanta's largest office buildings created a creative setting at the time. The meeting place was the local coffee shops and restaurants. The owner had worked for some of Atlanta's most well-known Fortune 500 companies and learned about enterprise level solutions from implementing them. Many of the companies provided training and with his extensive programming experience, creative technology solutions became second nature.

Now the company has an extensive portfolio with dozens of testimonials from verifiable company heads. The track record created in the last 10 years has proven that no matter what problem is presented to WebXperts that the team will provide the right solution on time and on budget.

The company and the company owner has received mention in Atlanta Magazine, Atlanta Business Chronicle, Jezebel Magazine, and has had an appearance on 11 Alive news as an Internet expert on a segment about social networking.

The companies’ clients have included Cox Communications, Grady Hospital, Ted Turner, Dallas Austin, and many more. The company currently has two locations and six employees. The company was voted "Best Place To Work" in 2000.

The owners’ technology experience dates back to the early 80's. His father owned several of the nations first proprietary computer schools. It was a time when the computers were shrinking and the possibility of computing was just being realized. The owner had some of the first personal computers at his disposal at an early age; like the Kaypro and Compaq CPM based luggage-tops. He was exposed to some of the first networked machines; like the Televideo networked systems. His knowledge of COBAL and FORTRAN was implanted at age of 8 and 9 and his father exposed him to high-level business dealings before he could drive. His exposure to the world of technology solutions predates the Internet and the invention of the modem. His dedication to understanding technology trends and guiding companies on Internet technology solutions is unparallel. As a result his company is as focused as an Internet consulting company could be.

WebXperts Design, Incorporated informal company biography created by R. Lee
